How we started

It was the 1980’s. Mom, appalled at the “strawberries” her ball-playing boys were collecting (and going broke on bandages and antiseptic) custom-made a couple pair of sliding shorts. Soon teammates were lining up for their pair.

When it occurred to us boys that Mom might have to spend her golden years hunched over a sewing machine, sweatshop-style, we arranged for our own production.

Since 1989

The business was incorporated as ASI in 1989. For about a year the business literally operated out of the family garage.

Dad built and installed inventory bins and a shipping table in the garage (the vehicles went outside).

Tonya’s old bedroom became the office. Excess inventory was piled in the family room. And while the kitchen/phone center combo wasn’t the most efficient configuration, it did result in impressive multi-tasking: We learned how to take an order and make a sandwich at the same time.

Thanks Mom, Dad, and the Academy (oops, wrong speech). And thanks, Dave, for marrying Tonya and getting her out of her office—er, bedroom.

Our Mission

At ASI, our mission since the Garage has been to produce the highest quality compression and padded short products on the market, and sell them at a fair price.

We don’t make the cheapest shorts you can buy. We could, but we’d have to use really crummy materials and third-world construction. But then you’d pull a muscle or get a strawberry anyway, so what would be the point?

Why Buy ASI?

  1. We can talk to our seamstresses without an interpreter
    (American made).
  2. Zero dollars go to terrorists bent on our destruction
    (American company).
  3. We actually expect them to last (Guaranteed for one full year).
  4. The pads are made of padding (not a layer of cotton, like you-know-who’s shorts).
  5. Mom.

Thanks for visiting our website. Now place an order. Please. (Mom taught me to say that.)
